Ancient Prophecy Predicts a Nuclear Disaster in Iran
on Sunday, March 13, 2022 by Bill SalusIran’s future is filled with double trouble because it is the subject of dual war prophecies in the end times. This Islamic nation is identified as Elam in Jeremiah 49:34-39 and Persia in Ezekiel 38:5. This article will cover the first war of Iran at Elam.
These are two distinctly different prophecies. The modern-day map of Iran below shows the ancient locations of these two separate territories. Elam encompasses the shaded area where the Bushehr nuclear reactor is located. A nuclear disaster at this reactor may come into consideration within this prophecy.
Jeremiah’s prophecy concerning Elam is only six verses and is relatively easy to understand. The prophecy appears to be predicting a forthcoming disaster, perhaps a nuclear catastrophe, in the western region of Iran by the Persian Gulf.
Before revealing the details, it’s helpful to point out that Iran, as a member nation of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), has the right to develop a nuclear program, but only for civilian use. However, since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Iran has been operating in non-compliance with its NPT safeguards agreement, and the status of its nuclear program remains in dispute.
Iranian leadership claims that their nuclear program is being developed exclusively for peaceful purposes and that nuclear weapons are forbidden under Islamic law. Refer to the headline below.
“Ayatollah Khamenei says nuclear weapons are ‘forbidden under Islamic law’” (The World 5/30/19) [1]
Herein lies the problem, Israel and a majority of the international community doesn’t trust Iran’s stated nuclear intentions, and as such, it looks like Jeremiah’s war in Elam is about to happen.
JEREMIAH’S WAR IN ELAM
According to the verse below, this war is appointed by the LORD, but appears to be acted out militarily through armies rather than supernaturally by God.
“For I, (the LORD), will cause Elam, (Western Iran), to be dismayed before their enemies And before those who seek their life.I will bring DISASTER upon them, My FIERCE ANGER,’ says the Lord; ‘And I will send the sword after them Until I have consumed them.” (Jer. 49:37, NKJV; emphasis added)
Why DISASTER? Why FIERCE ANGER? The next two scriptures provide the answers. They point out that bad rulers want to launch something lethal somewhere. Jeremiah informs God will prevent this attack from happening.
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, The foremost of their might.” (Jer. 49:35)
“… And will destroy from there the king and the princes,’ says the Lord.” (Jer. 49:38b)
We can deduce that the sinister intentions of bad rulers are the provocation of the LORD’S FIERCE ANGER. They plan on unleashing the foremost of their military might upon some enemy. Although we’re not specifically told the target, my educated guess in these end times, is that it’s the nation of Israel. Jeremiah foretells that these evil leaders of Elam will be eliminated.
God is going to “break the bow of Elam.” The broken bow likely alludes to the future destruction of Iran’s missile launching capabilities. Poison tipped or fiery arrows launched by an archer from Elam wouldn’t travel the 1300 plus miles to Israel, nor would they do any damage if they did. However, several intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) tipped with nuclear warheads could wipe Israel off of the map, which is the stated intentions of Iran’s current leaders.
“Iran general says Tehran aims to wipe Israel off the ‘global political map’” (Times of Israel 1/28/19) [2]
“…Khamenei defines Iran’s goal of ‘wiping out Israel’” (Times of Israel – 11/15/19) [3]
“Iranian commander: We can destroy Israel ‘in under 8 minutes’”
“A senior Iranian military commander boasted that the Islamic Republic could “raze the Zionist regime in less than eight minutes.”… “Iran in March tested ballistic missiles, including two with the words “Israel must be wiped off the earth” emblazoned on them, according to the US and other Western powers.” (Times of Israel – 5/22/16) [4]
This genocidal mindset of Iran’s rulers is a serious problem prophetically because God plans on making His holy name known in the end times through His people Israel.
“So I, (the LORD), will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel, and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore. Then the nations shall know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.” (Ezekiel 39:7, NKJV; emphasis added)
If Iran possesses nuclear weapons, which would then represent the “foremost of their might,” then they could literally wipe Israel off the map and they boast this could happen in eight minutes. Now you see why God has FIERCE ANGER toward Iran, and why He will:
1. “Break the bow of Elam at the foremost of their might,”
2. “Destroy from there the king and the princes of Elam,”
3. “Cause Elam to be dismayed before their enemies, and before those who seek their life,”
4. “Bring DISASTER upon them,”
5. “Send the sword after them Until I have consumed them.”
If God doesn’t do all of the above and allows a nuclear armed Iran to wipe Israel off of the planet, then He won’t be able to let the world know that His name is Holy and He’s the “Holy One in Israel.”
To “send the sword after them” can be interpreted as a biblical typology for causing a military invasion. Jeremiah points out that at the time of the DISASTER Iran will have an array of “enemies’ and “those who seek their life.” At the top of this list of foes is Israel, who takes Iran’s existential threats to the Jewish state seriously. Although we are not told who the enemies are specifically, Israel is prepared for a possible conflict with Iran.
“Israel readying for possible Iran conflict, officials say”(ABC News – 11/10/21) [5]
IS THERE A COMING NUCLEAR DISASTER IN ELAM?
More details in Jeremiah’s prophecy suggests the strong possibility that the DISASTER in Elam causes a nuclear catastrophe. The next verse informs that as a result of the DISASTER, the affected Iranians will be forced to flee worldwide for safety.
“I will bring against Elam the four winds from the four quarters of heaven; I will scatter them to the four winds, and there will not be a nation where Elam’s exiles do not go.” (Jer. 49:36, NIV)
According to the verse below, the reference to “the four winds from the four quarters of heaven,” is a biblical typology that alludes to a dispersion of the refugees.
“‘Come now! Come now! Flee from the land of the north,’ declares the LORD, ‘for I have dispersed you like the four winds of heaven,’ declares the LORD.” (Zechariah 2:6, ISV)
Does the DISASTER in Elam include the striking of the Bushehr nuclear reactor? Does this cause nuclear radiation to spread throughout the territory of Elam? Could this cause a humanitarian crisis that forces the exiles of Elam to flee in a worldwide dispersion?
“Gulf countries meet over Iran nuclear radiation fears”
“… The Iranian city of Bushehr is the subject that has raised a great deal of concern among GCC countries and the international community of a possible damage to the Bushehr nuclear reactor that could causing a radioactive leak…” (Reuters – 4/14/13) [6]
It’s important to note that the territory of Elam, being the closest part of Iran to Israel, is a primary location of Iran’s underground missile silos and portable rocket launchers. These silos and launchers are capable of hurling numerous ICBMs at Israel in a moment’s notice.
Does the LORD use the enemies of Iran to destroy these launchers? This would certainly fulfill the “breaking the bow of Elam.” Moreover, this fierce fighting could escalate into an attack upon the Bushehr nuclear reactor, which could fulfill the scattering of the exiles of Elam.
CONCLUSION
The war in Elam is the first in a series of future end times wars whereby, the LORD acts upon His FIERCE ANGER. Upcoming articles will point out that once God begins to execute His fury and vengeance upon His enemies there will be no turning back the clock and globally impacting wars will occur in rapid succession!
Those nations and terrorist populations who stand in the way of God’s plans for Israel and benevolent undertakings for mankind are abruptly about to realize that,
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31)
