There Will Be A Healing Tree Of Life In The Eternal Order

This article is taken from my book entitled, The MILLENIUM Prophecies and the NEW JERUSALEM.

“In the midst of the street (of gold) thereof. And on this side of the river (of Life) and on that was the tree of life, bearing twelve manner of fruits, yielding its fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” (Rev. 22:2, ASV; emphasis added)

The Tree of Life dates back to the Garden of Eden in Genesis 2:9; 3:11, 24. It will return in the Eternal Order. It will bear twelve fruits every month. The reference to a month suggests that some type of a dating system will still exist during the Eternal Order. This is also implied in Rev. 21:25 that says the gates of NEW JERUSALEM are not shut during the day.

Presently, there are estimated to be over 2000 fruit varieties throughout the world. Man has even invented a “Fruit Salad” tree that bears up to 8 fruits through grafting fruits within the same family. However, in the Eternal Order, the Tree of Life is all natural and made from God and not man’s grafting techniques.

There may still be that many fruit types in the Eternal Order, but the Tree of Life apparently bears the top twelve and presumably these are all edible. The other important information is that the leaves from the Tree of Life are used for the healing of the nations.

This beckons the question, since Rev. 21:4 states there will be no death, sorrow, crying or pain, which also implies no sicknesses, then why do the nations need the leaves from the Tree of Life for healing purposes? Below are quotes that may provide possible answers.

“The Greek word translated healing is the source of the modern English word “therapeutic.” The purpose of the leaves is not to heal existing sicknesses, for they will not exist in the Eternal Order; rather, they will be for health-giving to the nations.” Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum (1)

“It is, of course, not implied that there is, in the new Jerusalem, any disease which needs healing, but the tree of life is put forward as the means by which the perpetual health and life and general well being of the inhabitants are sustained.” The Pulpit Commentary (2)

The mention of the healing of the nations implies that there will be peoples and / or angels residing outside of the NEW JERUSALEM that live within the nations. This point is also made self-evident in the following verse.

“And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it, (the NEW JERUSALEM).” (Rev. 21:24, NKJV; emphasis added)

If some of the Angels, at least the twelve monitoring the twelve gates, the Jews and the Church Saints live inside the golden holy city, then who is dwelling among the nations? These non-NEW JERUSALEM citizens are saved as per Rev. 21:4.

Thus, they likely include the saved Gentiles that come out of the Millennium. Since the Millennial earth and the nations therein will have fled away, then these Millennial citizens will be in need of new national homelands in the Eternal Order, and they will be the recipients of the therapeutic leaves from the Tree of Life.
